What are Freemasons?

Freemasons are men of moral integrity that practice brotherly love, charity, and truth. They are expected to be peaceful in society and conform to the government in the country in which they live. Freemasons meet in Masonic Lodges and hold meetings there usually once, or twice a month.

How do I become a Freemason?

How do I become a Freemason?

To become a Freemason you must ask a Masonic friend to recommend you. You must be a man of high moral character, of mature age (21), and advocate belief in the existence of a Supreme Being. You must complete a petition to join the lodge and be voted on by secret ballot. Have more questions? Use the contact form below to reach out to us.

History of Apollo Lodge #921

Apollo Lodge No. 921 F&AM is one of the youngest of Huntsville's Masonic Lodges.  The light of Freemasonry first appeared in Alabama at Huntsville in 1811, when the Grand Lodge of Kentucky authorized the creation of the forerunner of Helion Lodge No.1.  Over the years, as Huntsville changed from a small town to a major city, it became obvious that one Masonic Lodge was no longer sufficient to serve the brethren of the community.  Thus, our sister lodge, Solar No. 914 was created in 1962.  Five years later on August 12, 1967, Apollo Lodge No. 921 was instituted.  The name Apollo was chosen for two reasons: first it was the name of the god of sunlight, prophecy, music, and poetry of Greek and Roman mythology and secondly it was the name of the NASA program with which many founding members of the lodge were professionally connected.
